Brian's

I have had the privilege of training with considerable consistency essentially my entire life. Having navigated the highs and low of training, times of absences and reorienting back into full training regularity. I have experientially developed a strong understanding of the mind in relation to discipline, motivation and the mental tools of transforming body conditioning. My first bodybuilding competition was in 1988 at the Okanagan's held in Kamloops. Bodybuilding was the only division back then. Now with other options I compete in Classic Bodybuilding and have hit the stage 8 times, most recently, last year in Toronto at the Canadian National Pro Qualifier. With 40 years of gym memberships and training in as many as 40 facilities within Canada and the United States I have watched facility trends come and go. I have become acutely aware that adaptation is so important, from training all the way to gym environment.

I have really enjoyed assisting fellow gym enthusiasts find that special grove that can take a long time to develop without a helping hand. With the opening of Revelstoke's first modern city styled gym "Destination Muscle Health and Fitness" I am looking forward to bringing all my experience to one location and sharing my knowledge with the fitness minded of Revelstoke.

I still remember at age 15 making my own weight set. It consisted of a broom handle and two sand filled socks attached to each end. It was great because if you pulled the socks off the handle you had two dumbbells. You should have seen Brian's reaction when he stumbled across it visiting one time. He said "What's this"? I said "Oh, that's my weights". I don't know if it was my nifty weight set, but not long after he suggested we get married. No cell phones back then, the Internet hadn't been invented and the living room of our first apartment was just weights. We learned by trial and error in those days. We got our first gym membership at age 19 and I eventually competed in Bodybuilding and became a successful Certified Personal Trainer both as a freelancer and employed by Just Ladies Fitness and Bodyfit Fitness Lounge. Now 43 years after tying socks to a stick I'm looking forward to sharing my experience. What exactly have I discovered actually works for me and what are the things I've found less effective?
